Tour Outsider: BMW Championship

The US PGA Tour takes on its 3rd tournament in the FedEx Cup Playoffs by going to Chicago to play the newly renamed BMW Championship (formerly called the Western Open). Only 70 players qualified for the tournament, with 4 players out of that bunch having already withdrawn. Phil Mickelson is one of the players that withdrew from the tournament. That leaves only 66 players in the field this week.

Let's look at the Golf CLi and see who the top 15 players are for the tournament ranked by the CLi figure.

Rank Player CLi
1 Tiger Woods 1.40
2 Geoff Ogilvy 14.40
3 Steve Stricker 15.10
4 Rory Sabbatini 16.30
5 Adam Scott 16.50
6 Trevor Immelman 17.90
7 Heath Slocum 19.80
8 Justin Rose 20.20
9 K.J. Choi 21.50
10 Scott Verplank 21.70
11 Carl Pettersson 22.50
12 Nathan Green 23.60
13 Billy Mayfair 23.60
14 John Senden 24.10
15 Stephen Ames 24.30

I will stick with the top 5 in the CLi this week. All 5 of them look good on this week's course, Cog Hill.

So the Tour Outsider picks for the BMW Championship are:

Rank Player CLi
1 Tiger Woods 1.40
2 Geoff Ogilvy 14.40
3 Steve Stricker 15.10
4 Rory Sabbatini 16.30
5 Adam Scott 16.50

The Tour Insider's (Dave Shedloski) picks are:

It is nice to see Shedloski going with two mid-west player in Stricker and Kelly. They will have the hometown crowd behind them, even though they are from cheese-land (Wisconsin).

This week we have 2 players in common: Woods and Stricker.
