It looks like I lost for the first time to the Tour Insider. Rob Bolton, the Tour Insider this year, won 21 of the 44 events we made picks. I won 19 events, and we drew the remaining 4 events. Congrats Bolton!!!! Hopefully I will do better next year.
For now, I am going to be taking a break until the end of the year. It is now my time to finish up teaching this semester and do some work on my dissertation. See you all at the start of the 2011 US PGA Tour golf season in January. Thanks for all of your support.
In the meantime, if you want to run your own Golf CLi you can do so for any of the tournaments on the major tours by setting up an account on golfcli.com.

Children's Miracle Network Classic
This week the US PGA Tour is back in the USA playing the last of the Fall Finish tournament. The Children's Miracle Network Classic is being played in Florida at the Disney World Resort --- where dreams come true.
Below is the list of the top 15 players in the CLi rankings for the Children's Miracle Network Classic.
I like the top 4 in the CLi rankings: Durant, Howell III, Pernice, and Love. I actually like the player in the 5th position: Brian Davis. He placed 2nd in the recent tournament in Malaysia. However, I am looking at the 6th player, Justin Leonard, and his record in this tournament and leading up to this tournament. He has played well at Disney, and has played solidly leading up to this tournament. He hasn't placed in the top ten recently, but I could see him push it hard this week to try to end the season on a good note.

HSBC Champions Tournament
This week the US PGA Tour stays in Asia to play a World Golf Championship event, the HSBC Champions Tournament.
Below is the list of the top 15 players in the CLi rankings for the HSBC Champions Tournament.
I like the top 5 in the CLi rankings: Watney, Els, Donald, Scott, and Allenby. However, none of them are Asia-based. And with this tournament being played in Asia (China), I want to have at least one player in this "World Golf Championship" that is "local". So I will by pass Allenby to pick Ishikawa. Allenby is playing well, but so is Ishikawa....in the Japanese events he has played over the past month. Hopefully he will take his play to China and play well this week.

Frys.com Open
The US PGA Tour's Fall Season continues this week by heading to California to play the Frys.com Open.
Below is the list of the top 15 players in the CLi rankings for the Frys.com Open.
No player has a CLi figure less than 10. This indicates that there are not any clear set of players taht will play well in this tournament. This could be because the tournament is playing at a new location in a different state...moving from Arizona to California. This is exhibited in the CLi configuration with the weights for the past instances of this tournament being less than I normally put on past instances of the tournament.
That said, Perez does have a 7.2 point CLi lead over the next closest player in the CLi rankings. Thus, I am going to pick Perez.
Then I am going to go with the next 3 players in the list as Durant, Clark, and Leonard are playing consistly well.
As for my fifth pick, I am going with Van Pelt. He placed 6th last week at the inaugural instance of the McGladrey Classic. This could imply that he plays better than others on first-time courses. Let's hope that is the case this week with this tournament playing a new course.

McGladrey Classic
The US PGA Tour's Fall Season continues this week by heading to Sea Island, Georgia to play the inaugural McGladrey Classic.
Below is the list of the top 15 players in the CLi rankings for the McGladrey Classic.
Even though Kuchar has struggled in the past couple of tournaments, I am still going to include him in my picks. He tends to play well in Georgia and likes playing in the Southeast for the most part.
I am going to skip Kirk. He has mainly played on the Nationwide Tour this year, and it seems as though his high finishes in that tour's events has catapulted him to a high ranking in the CLi. Even though it is not a big jump in competition level between the Nationwide Tour and the US PGA Tour, mentally it will be a big hurdle for him to get comfortable playing on the bigger tour. Thus, I am going to skip over him.
I am also going to pass over Gillis, and pick Wetterich. Gillis has a good chance to play well this week. However, both Gillis and Wetterich have the same CLi, Wetterich placed 8th last week in the Viking Classic (a recent tournament), and there are 3 solid players after both Gillis and Wetterich that I want to pick (i.e. Haas, Byrd, and Johnson). So I will pick Wetterich over Gillis.
Then I will round out my five picks with Haas, Byrd, and Johnson. These 3 players play well in this area of the country...not to mention that they are playing well at this time.
Below are my 5 picks for the McGladrey Classic :

Getting Caught Up
Well, I am finally past one of the major hurdles in my doctoral studies. I recently found out that I passed my comprehensive exams. These exams are a major component to any doctoral program, and represent one of the most difficult aspects of doctoral studies. So it is nice to have these exams completely successfully, as it means I can move into the dissertation phase of doctoral studies. As well, hopefully I will now be able to get caught up on the postings for Tour Outsider.

TOUR Championship
The USA PGA Tour is playing the final leg of the Fedex Cup Playoff this week in Atlanta with the TOUR Championship.
Below is the list of the top 15 players in the CLi rankings for the TOUR Championship.
I am going to stick with the top 5 in the CLi rankings: Scott, Goosen, Stricker, Mahan, and Furyk.
All the players look good since the tournament has a field of just 30 players and these players having earned their position in the field due to the previous 3 events. So all 30 players are playing well. In addition, there is no cut in the event and thus all the players will earn a check no matter how well they play. Thus players don't have the same motivation to finish well if they are not playing well early on in the tournament. Therefore, they won't grind it out to finish well if they are not playing well. That makes it difficult to pick who will finish well this week.

Deutsche Bank U.S. Championship
The USA PGA Tour is playing the 2nd leg of the Fedex Cup Playoff this week in Boston with the Deutsche Bank U.S. Championship.
Below is the list of the top 15 players in the CLi rankings for the Deutsche Bank U.S. Championship.
I am going to stick with the top 5 in the CLi rankings: Johnson, Kuchar, Dufner, Stricker, and Furyk.
Dufner is an interesting pick when looking at these 5 players since his world ranking is the losest of the 5. As well, he missed the cut last week at the Barclays Classic. Then on top of that, picking Dufner is especially interesting when Padraig Harrington is in 6th position in the rankings. Harrington's CLi (18.90) is not much different than the Cli values of the first 5 players in the list. However, in the two instances that Dufner has played the Deutsche Bank event, he has missed the cut in the preceeding tournaments and has finished 2nd and 37th. Both times he made the cut, so it seems that he likes this course. Thus, I am going to stick with him as a pick this week rather than dropping him for Harrington.
