This week is the first full field event for the US PGA Tour's 2009 Season. Last week was a restricted field event in Hawaii, with this week the pros staying in Hawaii to play the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The top 5 in the CLi look good this week. So I am going to stick with them.
Below are my 5 picks for the Sony Open:

The Tour Insider (Dave Shedloski) is still a no show. As someone mentioned last week in the comments of this blog, Helen Ross did a pseudo Tour Insider for pgatour.com for the Mercedes event last week. However, there were no picks in her post. So I will probably need to find another public figure to compete with this season. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know by posting a comment to this blog entry. Thanks.
Would you be able to do anything against Rob Bolton from Rotoworld? I like to find him through sandbox.com. Just a thought.

Seems like everyone likes Els. Im gonna go with someone else this week.
ReplyDeleteHi! Pgatour.com got a new guy you can compete against; http://www.pgatour.com/2009/tournaments/r006/01/13/powerrankings.sonyopen/index.html
ReplyDeleteI think the closest think to shedloski's top 5 is vitti's power rankings, which is new this year:

vitti's power rankings is more of a top 10, though (i don't think he did his power rankings for the Mercedes)
you can read Rob Bolton's weekly column here every week:
http://fantasygolf.usatoday.com/content/homesport.asp?sport=GOL
he publishes a pick for a "one and done" fantasy format and has a contest going with 9 others each week
Who are you thinking about BC?
ReplyDeleteOgilvy?
Choi?
Cink?
Does anyone feel McLachlin being a contender?

Rob Bolton would be a good person to compete against. His postings for rototworld are very detailed. I would't be able to pick 5 and compete agasint him then, as he suggests players for several different fantasy golf games (pgatour.com / Yahoo!, and others). I will ping him via email to see if he would be open to actually competing (i.e. to become the Tour Insider in the Tour Insider vs Tour Outsider unofficial challenge :-) ).
ReplyDeleteI talked with Rob Bolton last week via email to see if he would be interested in actually contributing to the Tour Outsider (as it would be rather cool if both the Tour Outsider and a Tour Insider posted rather than just the Tour Outsider :-) ). He actually declined for several reasons, namely that he didn't feel he was an "Insider" and that he is busy working on his own Fantasy postings.
ReplyDeleteAny other thoughts?
BTW: I see that the US PGA Tour now has a European Tour Insider --- Nick Dye. However, neither Dye, nor Ross (who took over from Shedloski), are posting picks for tournaments. :-(
