This week the world of golf is focusing it's attention on Royal Birkdale (UK) as the 3rd major of the year will be contested. Players are going after the claret jug that is rewarded to the winner of this week's British Open
Let's look at the Golf CLi and see who the top 15 players are for the tournament ranked by the CLi figure.

This week I am going to go with Singh as my first pick. His CLi figure is less than 10, which is a good sign, especially in a major.
Then I am going to skip over Mahan, as he has limited playing experience in the British Open. He has been playing well of late, but I just don't think he will fair well at Royal Birkdale because he will have jumpy jitters.
I will pick the next 3 in Cink, Mickelson and Garcia. Cink is solid in the British. Mickelson is the top ranked player in the field. Garcia played well last year in the British and wants a major after having won the Players Championship earlier in the year.
For my final pick, I want a European player. Westwood is looking good, however, I see one that I like even better down the list. It is another Spainard: Jimenez. If Jimenez keeps his cool when he hits a dire shot and doesn't have any big numbers on his scorecard, he should fair rather well this week.
So the Tour Outsider picks for the British Open are:

The Tour Insider's (Dave Shedloski) picks are:
We have 2 players in common in this tournament: Mickelson and Garcia.
Hey Johnny,
ReplyDeleteI posted a response on the results for last week....a pretty good week for my picks overall. This week, for our pick one, we are considering Jimenez, Karlsson, Els, Romero, and Rose. Those are not my top 5. We can only use each golfer once a year. My top 5 this week are Jimenez, Karlsson, Els, Cink, and Garcia. Vijay has been a little inconsistent for me. I like Mickelson, just not as much as Els. And, I like Karlsson this week based on his US Open results.

Baummer, it looks like you were correct with Singh being inconsistent. He didn't make the cut.
ReplyDeleteI would have thought that Jimenez would have played well. However, he ballooned in the second round and missed the cut. Ugh.
As for finding someone to help out with the GolfSolutions.com web sites, I have interest from a number of people and companies. However, I have not locked down on one person or company as I have not felt completely comfortable yet with the arrangement with each. I need to feel comfortable with the person or company first, and then I will look at the terms they are offering or what services they can bring to the table. Hopefully, I will get time to look at that over the next couple of weeks....after my family and I finish the move to Kentucky. Right now we are living out of a moving truck and hotels. :-(

Jeff / -E, nice picks. For a difficult tournament, your picks turned out good. All but Cink made the cut for you. - JM
ReplyDeleteThanks.
